Bison and Red Dog
Yes, that is right, this is a bison with a red dog. Baby bison are referred to as a red dog. When baby bison are born they are a red-orange color hence the nickname red dog.
Baby bison are called red dogs because of the red-orange color of their fur when born. They grow out of the red dog phase, developing into adults with dark brown coats and a hump on their backs.
Both the mother and child are seen in the classic colors and back humps that are common among American Bison.
"After a few months, their hair starts to change to dark brown and their characteristic shoulder hump and horns begin to grow." US Department of The Interior
