A Perfect Landing

A Great Blue Heron is about to land in a lake at a suburban park. I liked this photo because it captures the movement and posture the Heron assumes just before landing. Additionally, the details of the feathers add extra impact to the scene. There are times when unique angles and different perspectives offer insight into an animal's natural behavior. In this case, the position of the legs, wings, and head viewed from the rear captures the Heron’s stance and sightline as it completes its landing.
