Bison are the largest mammals in North America. Bulls can weigh up to 6000 pounds. They can also reach a height of 6 feet.

Female bison will weigh up to 1000 pounds and stand 4-5 feet tall.

Bison have inhabited Yellowstone National Park since prehistoric times. Currently, the bison population is around 4900, making it the largest herd on any of America's public lands.

The Yellowstone bison are pure descendants of their prehistoric ancestors.

It is bison not buffalo. The bison is a bison. The word buffalo is thought to have come around because it means beef and bison were a source of meat..but it is still bison.

These bison were photographed in Yellowstone National Park. They were photographed with a Sony AR7V using a 200-600 mm Sony emount lens.
